Wheee!

Hosta Name:
WHEEE! 12"high x 28"wide
Hosta Image:
Color:
Green / Cream
Hosta Description:
This hosta was discovered by Bill Meyer as an unlabeled mutant in a garden centre. It now appears it may be a sport of Leola Fraim. It is reminescent of a little girl with long curly locks twirling around on a merry go round, her hair waving in the wind. This delightfully fun new hosta has extremely ruffled cream colored margins extending from the tip of each green leaf all the way down the petiole to the crown. This ruffled margin is evident even in the juvenile stage. Even when it it is just coming out of the ground in spring, its curly nature stands out making you wonder "is that a hosta coming up?" Not overly fast growing but well worth the wait. Excellent substance. Light lavender flowers on purple scapes.

Leaf blade 7"x 5", thick, pale chartreuse becoming ivory to bright yellow then fading to a dull green with green veins, wide dark olive green margin with celadon streaks jetting toward the midrib, slightly dimpled, strongly veined, twisted, nearly heart shaped leaves. Lavender flowers in late July. Whirlwind is a classic hosta that should be included in everyone's collection. We have a nice sized one in a pot that everyone seems to gravitate to when they see it, despite being an older hosta.

Hosta Description:
Sport of White Christmas from R. Franks, introduced by R. Solberg, 2007. An exciting introduction. It may be the large, fast growing, white centred hosta for which we all have been waiting. Large bright white leaves with a narrow dark green margin have lighter green streaked sandwiched in between. Light lavender flowers in July, forms white seed pods. Appreciates morning sun and ample water. This one surprised both of us with its strong growth rate and considerable amount of partial sun tolerance despite so much white in its leaves.

WISHING WELL 23"high x 38 "wide
Hosta Image:
Color:
Blue
Hosta Description:
Wonderful hosta from Don Dean. (((Color Fantasy x (Big Daddy x Big Daddy )) x Abiqua Drinking Gourd ) x (Love Pat x Popo)) This large hosta is prized for holding its beautiful blue color long into the season, even when planted in 2/3 day of sun. Its huge leaves emerge slowly, exhibiting a unique cupped, rippled, corrugated texture. They unfold slowly as they mature. Since they are of thick substance, the leaves are more slug resistant. Good growth rate compared to other large blue hostas. Near-white flowers begin to appear in midsummer and last into late summer. Photos courtesy of Don Dean.
